Velcade, Round 6, shot #2.

Today I drive to Rocklin to get my shot. Then straight home to do some chores, dinner prep, and then take Dex after lunch. Last week the 16mg Dex wasn’t too awful. Still I do need to modify what I do since DEx is sneaky and I certainly wouldn’t drive.

Yesterday Costco was great. It was straight in and we were done in 30 minutes. It wasn’t busy at all. Not sure if that’s because everyone had shopped on Sunday or it’s close to the middle of the month. Anyway, it was great for us. We got some great looking fruit and most of the basics we needed. They didn’t have the organic Lundberg brown rice so maybe they’re not carrying that anymore. I don’t think we’ll need to go back till the end of July. We did buy 2 bags of coffee so that should get us thru till then.

Budget wise, the 3 annual bills are paid, AAA membership, Costco membership and propane tank rental. All are once a year bills. Our next set of annual bills will be fall and that’s expensive as it’s the house insurance( which is going up every year due to fire concerns, car insurance( bi annual) and property taxes(bi annual). I’m moving a small amount of money over to a savings when I can to put toward these. I doubt I can get to the final amount but something will help. Right now with having put lots of RV misc on the credit card, that’s number one priority. I should be able to finish that next week.

Our weather is lovely and very cool. Next week looks like we’re back in 100 degree weather so not fun. It’s nice not to use the coolers all the time and we’re not having to water so much.

Update on the kitties:

My daughter was able to get the last one from the barn. Mama kat was not happy and has been up here at the house trying to ‘call’ her out. She’ll get over it. My son was able to get a voucher from the ASPCA to spay mama but we have to wait to get it. She may get pregnant in the meanwhile but I guess that’s the chance we’re taking. I’m hoping we get it done in time or? or, those kitties would just go straight to the shelter. ( no – kill one).

Velcade, Round 3, shot #3.

So this finishes Round 3 and I get labs tomorrow so I should know by next Wednesday how it all looks. I will start Round 4 April 7th.

It was a quick trip down to Rocklin. All went smooth and I got my shot and was out by 10:15. I’m having some eye issues like I did before with watering eyes and getting some styes. I have an ophthalmic prescription ointment but it’s 6 years old at least. the nurse said still use it but it may not have quite the efficacy. Then get Dr. L to prescribe a new one. It is interesting how you ‘forget’ certain things with chemo and then it’s like ” wait , didn’t this happen before”.?

I decided to stop at the Humane society bookstore in Auburn and was glad I did.

Everyone has to wear a mask and everyone did.It was somewhat busy but I found a good stack of cookbooks to read and then more of the Sue Grafton. They actually had an ‘A is for Alibi”, her first, which is pretty hard to find. It was only released in paperback. So I’m set for books for a while.

I’ve actually read ‘Bella Tuscany’ a few times but it is a great location book about Tuscany, which I’m sure I will never see in my lifetime. And I have read the Berg book too. I really always enjoyed her writing.

Today is a no walk Dex day as I end up having shortness of breath so I’m going to lay low and read. I still need to get out my monthly menu planner sheet and start April.

Velcade, round 3, shot #1 or #7 depending on how you’re counting.

It was raining quite a bit driving down to Rocklin.

I needed to have a blood draw as they want CMP and CBC every 2 weeks. So that was fine and then I had my shot. I shared the good news with the nurse that Velvade has dropped my kappa light chains dramatically.

It was still sprinkling on the way home but i wanted to top at the Ace in Auburn as they apparently had the eggshell finish the other Ace did not. So I got 2 gallons of that and then wanted the high gloss in a quart and she said they don’t carry that one. I’m thinking to myself, this is the third Ace I’ve been to and they all have a different story. They are independently owned but sheesh. Get it together. So now I have to go back to the original Ace out at Lake of the PInes and hoe they still have the high gloss. Well, that will have to wait till after dex days.

Here’s a shot my husband took of the living room/dining area getting the paint over. We still need to do the TV wall and that means moving that stuff out so it’ll be another day or so. It looks great though!! I’d like to replace the ceiling fan with a lower profile one eventually.

Today is just do basics day although I do have my Tartine sourdough ready to go in the oven. I started my starter 2 days ago so today will be bake day.

We didnt walk this morning( my decision) because on the morning after Dex I have a lot of shortness of breath walking so I figured I’d skip and maybe walk on our no-walk day which is Monday. We’ll see. It may just be a pass day.

There was a sprinkling of snow yesterday and the yard has still some on it. If I can get a picture soon I’ll post it.

Tonight is my son’s turn to cook since it’s a dex day and I must stay away from sharp objects:)

I know I have some meals I need to do in the next few days including an egg dinner as we are now getting 10 eggs a day from the girls. I’ll either do a frittata or some other baked egg dish. Then I have zucchini I bought to make another Tucson stew with. I may even skip pizza night and do that instead.

Here’s another angle of the front room. B did around the other window wall so that’s done now too.

Velcade, Round 2, shot #1 or 4 depending on how you look at it.

Today is back to the Wednesday shots and then home to take Dex. This is shot #1 for round 2 or shot #4 if you’re counting total. Don’t think it matters really.

It was a nice drive down with sun and no rain yet. I was in and out in 20 minutes. My CBC and CMP came back fine but haven’t seen the other 2 and that will be Friday. So we’ll see.

Tonight I have dinner planned as I made some pintos yesterday and we have some brown rice left over. So we’ll have that with some avocado and pico de gallo.

Round 1 over, Velcade, shot #3

It was a brutal drive down to Sacramento yesterday.

We had wind and rain here overnight and it didn’t let up driving down. Sacramento looked liked a war zone. It was hit very hard by wind and rain. I saw debis all over and many trees snapped in two. There was no power in the C street area but Mercy did have power. Off the exit onto J street, the homeless encampments looked like they took a huge hit with stuff ALL over the place. Why we can’t provide some kind of motel/hotel rooms for these people is beyond me. I know Gov Newsom is trying his best to come up with solutions. Why the nutsos want to recall him is all so beyond me. What was he supposed to do during a pandemic, just say ok, keep businesses open and spread Covid-19?? Honestly?? Some People are really stupid.

Anyway, I got down there just fine and saw Dr. Laptalo. He said the soft lump that was on my front temple area probably was a plasmacytoma so fortunately with 24 hours of my first shot it was gone and he said that’s good. But there’s not much we can do with the bone area right now. sigh… why is it always something?. But the important thing is when my numbers started to double in early November, that’s when this soft lump appeared so clearly the abnormal plasma cells were working overtime. I’ll be more aggressive next time saying we need to start treatment when we reach this 500 point.

So then when I left, the sun was out but still very strong winds. I headed up to Rocklin for my shot. I was 1/2 hour early but the nurse told me just to come in since the shot doesn’t require IV hook up or anything and they had done my vitals in Sacramento. The shot went well and I was on my way.

I need to do labs before my next round starts in February and I have off next week.

There wasn’t any rain when I left but the winds were still very strong and it was hard to even walk back to the car.

I got home by 12 having left by 8am. So not too bad. I ate some lunch and took Dex.

I guess it’s all a waiting game to see what my blood work shows, but after only one round, you can’t expect too much. Maybe by Round 3 in March.

My daughter made a nice comfort food dinner of Mac and Cheese, wedge salad and a few breaded Costco shrimp in the air fryer.

We are watching Brooklyn 99 with my son and it you want a funny show this is definitely it. Great writing and characters. We’re taking a break from the ‘Money Heist’ since we just finished Part 3. Then we browsed and started ‘Lupin” . French and quite good so far. We also paused Cobra Kai. It’s a good show, I’m just not sure if I’m into the story line although it is good and it’s fun they are the original characters from the “Karate Kid”.

Tonight my son will cook and is planning an IP chicken teriyaki dish. I’m going to make a tofu curry for the veggies. Plus I’ll put some arborio rice in the Zojirushi. An easy meal to put together.

It’s still raining and we didn’t walk. I just ordered this morning a set of Frogg Toggs since I don’t mind walking in the rain if I have the right gear. If I feel up to it, I’ll get on the treadmill and do at least something, maybe:)
