Simple Sunday

I woke up to a crimson sunrise. It didn’t last long but was quite spectacular. It’s also cloudy out, which is going to make it more humid. I did go for a walk around 6:30. A little later than my normal, but still nice. There were maybe 4 other people. The park these days seems to always be busy or have more people than it used to. I guess that’s true of everything; freeways, gyms, and stores seem to have more people than ever.

I’m managing more water and plan to do so today. I’m getting 2 1/2 bottles( 16 ounces), so ok, but needs improvement.

Last night we had chicken tenders and a tomato mozzarella salad. The chicken is low-net-carb from Costco (Real Food, I think it’s called). It was very tasty. Tonight, I think we’ll do something with meatballs. I bought some Rao’s from Costco, so we’ll use that. Maybe top with more fresh mozzarella.

I started watching The Bear, which I had no idea what it was about. It’s good, maybe intense, but good. I’d like it if it had more food stuff, but it’s a drama, so it’s more about the people. Other than that, no new shows. Grantchester comes out on Sundays, but I’m not sure if I can see it tonight or have to wait until tomorrow.

I’m probably going to the gym this morning, although I seem to be moving slowly.

Another open week, which I love. My daughter and I are going to go out for lunch tomorrow and maybe to the bookstore.

Simple Sunday

A nice walk this morning with no one there. It was just predawn. I’m heading out to the gym soon, so I’ll finish this later. I also need to drop off the thrift store stuff, and Sunday morning is always a good time. It’s not a lot, maybe 3 small bags of misc. Still better out.

I got my LLS submitted for November, so that’ll pay my UHC insurance. I haven’t gotten a notice of increase, but I’m sure I will. Even after B died, they raised it by 15% because it was just me and not multiple people. Weird.

Okay, then, back from the gym. I didn’t do too much, only about 25 minutes. I wasn’t into it today.

Then I dropped off the Goodwill stuff, and then my library friend called and asked if I wanted to get a coffee, so I was spontaneous. Usually, I am not at all, so that was a good change for me. Then, when I got home, I started the stew for dinner. I’ll let it cook most of the day. Then I made some chocolate chip cookie dough and froze most of it. I cooked up a dozen cookies.

This week is open, and I just have labs tomorrow. I’ll probably swim tomorrow or Tuesday. I’ll just see how I feel.

Has anyone received notice of insurance premium hikes? Or is it too soon?

Simple Sunday

Tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes!!!! B used the food mill while I dropped the tomatoes in boiling water to break the skin. It’s a bit of work really but with him doing all the turning of the food mill it saves my arm.

Those greenish tomatoes are ripe just a different variety. So we did 2 boxes like this one and ended up with 6 qts of tomato sauce.

We had a nice start to the day with a walk in the park. Sunday is usually my favorite day as there are always fewer people. Today it was just “truck guy’. He’s nice and doesn’t bother us at all. After the walk, we started the tomatoes.

Then I headed into Auburn to go to the gym. That too was pretty empty. Maybe it’s the last vacation surge before school starts.

The production line!!!

We’re halfway thru the new season of the Witcher and it’s really good although anything with Henry Cavill is good.

I haven’t decided how this week’s schedule is going to go. I have my fasting labs on Tuesday, so I can’t swim that day( I can’t get there in time) and usually I keep Monday as a home day but I’ll see how I feel.

I’m making some vegetarian stuffed peppers for dinner and they’re in the crockpot right now. I use brown rice, onions, carrots, mushrooms, sunflower seeds , and pecans. I also add grated cheese. Sometimes I use an egg as a binder but not today. I’ll pull out a chicken from the freezer to cook later this week too.

The new co-op opened in Auburn and everyone is pretty excited. Briarpatch has been in Grass Valley since 1978 or so. This is a big store( they took over where the old K mart was) and has a deli and all kinds of things. I’m excited to shop there. Barclay is a member but we’ll have to see if I can use that or do we need to upgrade to a family membership. I will price check compared to Winco but still it’s in Auburn and I want to support that. Years ago around the same time, Auburn tried to do a co op but it didn’t have much support. It closed after 5 years or so.
