Simple Sunday

A lovely Sunday walk this morning without the jerk, who showed up yesterday after a 2 week hiatus. That’s ok we just ignored him even though he was walking in the middle of the path and we had to walk single file when he went by. It’s not worth the psychic energy anymore to even deal with it. We just went on our merry way. But it was a very pretty morning at the park this morning. We’re pretty lucky to have at least this one trail that is paved. There isn’t anything else like it at all around here. The closest would be Auburn which has one park with a paved trail otherwise it’s Folsom or up the hill to Truckee that has amazing trails all paved.

From there I started working on the nut/cheese loaf for Thanksgiving. I ended up with enough for 2 loaves and one half size one. I put them in the freezer till Thursday morning. I use the recipe from Greens. I’ll try and post it tomorrow.

Then I cut up the loaf of Tartine and put that in the freezer and started a new batch which I’ll do a slow overnight rise. That way I can cook it tomorrow morning.

I put the Costco chicken carcass in the Instant Pot to make broth. That’s still cooking. I also started a Crock Pot of pinto beans for dinner. Costco had the green chile cheese tamales which are my favorite so we’ll have those with pintos.

Tomorrow B has his IGIV. It’s in Roseville so I’ll take him and Z will go pick him up since my daughter works on Mondays. Z works too but he can take it as his lunch break. Hopefully, that will help his energy which is still pretty low and lagging.

I finished everything for Christmas. Really, don’t get too excited, as we only have us to buy for and I keep it small. I will send off something to my sister and give my brother some money. For us, I have books, a couple pairs of jammies, an Elton John album my son wanted and some other misc. Generally, I get stuff we need in the clothes dept, books, something fun and something that is a want.

Hanukkah is early this year, Dec 10th, but I’ve decided not to do any gift things and we’ll just light the candles. I like the idea of the light illuminating the dark and we need that right now.

Flylady zone this week is the bedroom. I finished it today. It doesn’t take very long since it’s pretty uncluttered in there. I did wash the comforter though and my daughter put up the new shoji screen for the one window. It keeps the cold out amazing.

Simple Sunday

Today is another trip to the hospital but before I go down I will try and do my Flylady zone.

It’s the bedroom so that is generally not too involved. I did call a house cleaning service to check on a ‘deep’ clean and I’d like an estimate. If it’s reasonable I’ll schedule that for the first week of June.  Since sometime after that we will be down there at the RV spot( I hope).

There’s been a hiccup with that as the owner has had a medical issue come up. I sure hope it can be resolved but it is what it is. And his health comes first. We still have the ACS hotel as back up. We can’t book that though till we know the exact date, so it’s also hurry up and wait.

On another note, my labs came back and I’m not going to lie. It upset me. They went up 4 points out of normal range. 18.4 to 22.4. So 19. 6 is high normal. And the ration went up to 1.69 out of normal range. (1.68 is high normal). so there it is. I’m guessing I’m coming out of remission.  I’m not going to worry too much yet as it’s still a long way to treatment.  It could be 3-4 months maybe longer but clearly, myeloma cells are activating.  It’s fine really. I knew it would happen and I’ve had 3 great years. Still, with everything going on it’ll be another trial. I actually see my oncologist this coming week( yes, I know in the middle of everything else) so I can ask him. He doesn’t get too concerned as the increases have been slow.

Anyway, life goes on, one way or another.

Simple Sunday

An absolutely beautiful day. Slightly breezy but so nice.

We did a sunrise walk in the park and it was very nice even though there was a crowd of Jesus people there for a sunrise service. Plenty of room for everyone.

The Canada geese couple has babies and they are so cute. The white goose we call Mother goose is their adopted nanny as she is a domestic goose. Go figure. Heck, why not? She seems happy.

lThen I’ve been cooking for a nice dinner. For Easter dinner or Spring celebration we always have southern fried tofu, with a homemade tartar sauce, plus potato and macaroni salads. This year I pulled out a turkey breast I got at Thanksgiving and have that going on the BBQ.  We’ll probably eat a few bites of that. Plus I’m using up some chicken broth I defrosted and am making a Greek lemon soup. We’ll just have that tomorrow or later in the week.

B had his chemo at 8 am so we were out the door early. I came straight home (it’s only about 1o minutes when there’s no traffic on a Sunday) and then our son drove out to get him.

I did the bedroom zone for you Flylady( ers ). I washed the windows, dusted and tidied up.  I also dropped my spider plant and the pot broke and got dirt all over so I had to stop mid-stream and clean that up.

Sunday is sheet day so they are done and back on the bed. As I’ve said before we only have one set of sheets and I really like that.

This coming week does have quite a few appts, but I think we’ll glide thru. My oncologist appt was canceled as my doctor will be out of town so really that makes it easier for me rather than going to downtown Sacramento twice. I’ll probably hit Costco if the coffee gets low( that’s usually the reason I have to go) and then everything else gets thrown in.

I think I’ll go read some before turning the turkey on the BBQ.

Hope it’s a nice day for you out there, whatever you do.
