Simple Sunday

Well, it has been a very involved week.

From last Monday when we decided to switch to UCD because it will be in network for the transplant to today when I went to Trader Joe’s.

I haven’t been to TJ’s in a while and there were some specific things I wanted. I read that their mahi-mahi burgers were very good, so I got some of those and lots of other things I’d been keeping a list of.

B had a platelet transfusion and my daughter went and picked him up as I was still down the hill as they say.

It’s supposed to rain off and on all week. I hope that changes as I’m completely done with rainy weather.

This week is the living room zone for those of you following Flylady. I did most everything in about 10 minutes. Last week I had washed the couch covers so they are fresh. I vacuumed yesterday so I’ll do that tomorrow. I like to vacuum every other day.

Dinner is a new recipe of green chile chicken. I’ll bake that not use the IP and have coleslaw on the side.

It’s quiet here. We’ve been to the infusion center for B’s platelets so that’s good. He’s having quite a bit of trouble with mouth sores which we think was from a certain antibiotic, not the chemo. But still it’s uncomfortable and it’s going to take a bit to heal with his WBC so low.  He’s on a different antibiotic so hopefully, that will kick in soon.

Other than that, I went to the gym for a short workout.

I’ve been in the living room zone as that is only today and tomorrow. Then the next zone starts on the 1st, which would be the entryway, dining room and something else.

Since our table is in our living room I do that area when I do the LR zone.  I’m doing a bit deeper clean( wiping all shelves and baseboards) since it’s the first of the year.

I’m going to cook an organic turkey roast for dinner along with some stuffing and peas. Nothing fancy, just using up stuff from the freezer. In January, I’m doing a no spend month and freezer clean out. The no spend is just nothing other than food and essential things like cat food. I’ve spent quite a bit in December in foodstuff mainly because I went to Costco twice. I usually go to Costco once a month. So that was definitely more expensive.

This week I have a dental cleaning and B has his appts. If he spikes a fever with these mouth sores he needs to go the ER, so let’s hope he doesn’t. But if he did at least he would get intravenous antibiotic which would accelerate healing his mouth sores. Still, let’s hope not.

Simple Sunday

A sunny day after yesterdays clouds and some rain. Quite nice. Temperatures are going to be around 80 so that’s pretty nice too!!!

This week is the living room zone and then the entry ways as June 1st is Friday.

Both zones are really easy for me as I have little to dust and little to do. I wash the inside windows in each zone. I do the outside windows about 4 times a year and they are due.

I’m moving a few plant friends around as the sun is coming in directly to the east in the morning and the south side of the house gets full sun in the afternoon. I moved the big palm plant to the sun porch but I’m not sure I’ll keep it there as that space gets very hot in the summer. Although, I think a palm would like that heat.

The entryways have red geraniums so they look pretty.  B swept the one patio in front of the sunroom and it looks much better than before with gravel all over that the chickens kicked up.

We went to the gym and it was empty, I guess everyone’s off on Memorial day activities. Then we hit up Target so I could get a few things. I needed some ice cube trays.  I wanted to get the stainless steel ones off Amazon but the price tag of $30 kept me from doing that. So I got plastic ones for $2.99.

I also picked up some Dr. Scholls inserts. I’ve mentioned before having feet trouble and it has gotten a bit worse in my left ankle and side of that foot.  My orthotics are 4 years old and I think this maybe a contributing factor. So I bought some $15 ones to see if that helps. Some of it is probably osteoarthritis, and some is kinda a mystery.  Then I picked up 2 bras that I needed as I only had one and that was going quickly. I’ll see how they are.

Also, some black contractor bags as B is removing ALL the insulation under the house so we can start over. With our ongoing varmint problem, we need it all down. The sonic thing does seem to be helping and I’d like to get 2 Barn cats eventually but not now. Plus the chicken food is a big attractor that we just have to live with. But we have noticed a difference since we’re not taking out any compost to them but putting that directly into the compost bin.

I read the book ‘New Minimalism’ again,

I will say I enjoyed the physical copy quite a bit more than the ebook. when I reviewed the e-book I didn’t give it a positive review. But holding it and looking thru it I thought it was a well-done book. I still think the idea of “new” sorta ridiculous but still, it was a good read.

Dinner is unknown. Maybe sandwiches???

Simple Sunday

We ended up going down to the theatre on Friday, only to get there and see it was sold out for both showings. I was kinda shocked at the number of people out going to the movies. I guess I just don’t get out that much but still on Black Friday, I expected them all to be shopping. So we may try again this coming week, but I’ll have to see how I feel.

Both  Christmas trees are up and almost fully decorated. I’m not putting every ornament on and will definitely give some away. I also didn’t put out my Vintage Life Magazine Santa pictures. Did you know it was coca cola that started the image of Santa as we see him today.? The coke ads in Life created a stereotype of Santa.

It’s supposed to rain later but it’s still warmish so that’s nice.

This week Flylady has 2 zones since the next month starts on Friday. So, the living room zone and the entry zone. Both very simple for me as they are decluttered and usually tidy. The entryway this time of year does hold shoes, boots etc since it’s winter( almost) so I’m thinking of some kinda shoe holder. It gets a little more cluttered than I’d like so a shoe bench might help. Ikea has some nice wood ones that are reasonable.

I’m heading to the gym for a short work out and then maybe the Holiday Market for a few things.

Dinner is broccoli rice cheese casserole and some baked chicken breasts. Simple and it uses what I have.
