Round 1, Velcade, shot #2

I was able to watch the swearing in of Harris and Biden and it really brought me to tears.

Then I left to go to Rocklin for shot #2 and was able to listen to quite a bit on the radio.

This nurse wasn’t quite as good as the first one. She did a blood draw which they need to check my WPC and RBC and she didn’t seem very seasoned in where a vein was on my arm. They do it always in the same place at Quest so not sure what her thing was but she did it and did leave a bruise. A good draw never leaves a mark at all.

This is the injection site. The red lasts maybe 3-4 days. Yesterday she did the opposite side and did leave a little bruising. So the other nurse did seemed to do a better injection. Other than that no complaints and of course, I just want it to work again.

I made a loaf of sourdough seed bread. It came out very nice.

I also made a chocolate sheet pan cake and it’s disappeared so I guess it was good.

Today is just a home day due to dex but I hope to get a few things done.

I should know better than to do business, so I went to pay a bill and and instead of putting in Feb 1st( due date) I left it as today. So I had to move money over from savings to cover it as it will come out tomorrow. Oh well, just a reminder that dex messes with your mind:)

November 2. :(

Well, the nurse called late yesterday. M-protein still at .5

Im disappointed but at least it’s not going up. But is revlimid doing anything? Is it keeping me stable at this number.

I don’t really know. I guess we all want to see results when we take chemo drugs, but it doesnt always happen. That’s 3 months on revlimid. So I guess well just go forward and see how the next 2 cycles are.

Depressed but I’ll get over it.

Zometa treatment

So, here I am in the treatment center. Appointment with Dr. L went well. He always takes the time to listen. Since I feel good , it’s an easy appt. I am not having any problems, except my m-protein. So we’ll know next week, start revlimid or wait. He reminded me to watch out for shingles, and that relatively speaking my m protein is small.Imageso, this treatment is to strengthen bones. Multiple myeloma is a blood cancer that affects the plasma,so bones get damaged, either with fractures for what’s called lytic lesions . Here’s the hubby who’s come with me every single time for 8 years. This is a relatively easy treatment, IV, and about 1 hour.ImageImageImage

Monoclonal protein update

So, my cancer marker, m protein is up again. It went from .42 to .5

whr this means to me is I have myeloma cells starting to wander around my blood stream ,. He said not to worry its very small, but if it goes up again next month, then I will want to go back on the drugs. Yes, they’re hard to take but I can still work, and do most stuff. Usually I’m more tired and WBC can get low. But since I monitored every month I would know.

im actually doing ok with this, since sooner or later it was going to happen.

On other notes, it is freaking hot here. Thank goodness we have a pool. It’s only a Costco one, but it’s cool and refreshing.i can’t do too much outside that’s for sure.

I had B pick up half a flat of organic strawberries, so I’m going to make some jam today or tomorrow . And try out my new loaf pan . Very excited.

Budget is pretty set for July, I told my noes working son, I want him to pay his cell phone. So he will give me $40. I’m going to put that in my 52 week savings which got used last week so I need to rebuild it. My $5 dollar challenge is good and I’m up to $150. Next week will be expensive as B needs new tires and his car service. We also ordered propane and that was $300. So lots going out.

Hoping to get to ikea soon to check out table and sofa. Especially , after reading pancakes and french fries blog on ikea sofas.

I’m going to work on menus for the week and figure out what were doing 4 th of July .
