Eureka, Ca

It’s been a fun trip ( work for him, fun for me) to this area. I haven’t been here for many years and I’m guessing not a lot has changed. It is a fairly depressed area and I’m guessing that fishing and logging used to be the economy booster. There’s quite a few homeless and Not sure why as it’s not that warm or desirable but there are a lot of them hanging around.  But we’ve had lots of walking, good food and fun all around.

We found 2 used bookstores but there’s no Goodwill. I didn’t feel like hitting up the other thrift stores.  Eureka natural Foods and North Coast co-op are incredible stores. The one in Arcata has Humbolt State nearby so must do pretty well with that.

After B works this morning we will head to Chico and spend the night since it’s a 4-5 hour drive today.  Then home Saturday.  We may hit up the FArmersmarket on Saturday of not.

I bought a murder mystery book by a local author but after starting realized I had already read it but I’ll reread it and then pass on to the library. It’s a signed copy so that will be nice.

It’s rainy and windy here but once we’re inland it’ll be 79 degrees in Chico. Go figure, it’s California!!

Monday morning

Well, I really did get sick and had to go to urgent care and get an antibiotic and cough medicine with codeine. I think the last time I had a Z-pack was probably 5 years ago.  So not fun. I’m doing much better but still coughing some. That’s been the worst. So not a lot has been done.

I did go down to our Holiday Market and manage to spend $71 on groceries. It’s always more expensive there but sometimes distance and energy must take precedent. I’m planning on Costco this week, just not sure when. We need TP, coffee, cheese and more so I’ll get there.

I was so thrilled at the Women’s marches and their incredible success. I mean 3 million people marched around the world.  And what is Trump concerned about but the size of the size of the inaugural crowds.  My daughter is making me a pussyhat and I can wait to wear it.

We’re almost at the end of the Uber Frugal month.  It’s been interesting to watch how we spend money. We didn’t go out to eat or do take out. So that saved some money. I had a $10 Panera card I used when we went and had a coffee. Going to Costco will up the grocery bill but in the end, it saves so much when I can buy a block of cheese for $8.00 as opposed to a tiny block for $4.00. I’ve also really gone thru the freezer and that’s been great. This week I’m going to use some grass fed hot dogs, grass fed sausages and some beef. Not sure what I’ll make but should be relatively simple.

B is away all week in Santa Monica doing a co-op reset.  They do reset at night so very hard on the body especially at his age. He’s probably going to get these co-ops taken away and given to someone down there( like it was), so I’m kinda bugged he has to go do this.

Friday stuff

Well, this has been a good week. My last shot of Velcade, B got his bonus and I think the refi is happening. We haven’t heard on the timing but the subordination from Citimortgage has come in. I’m not sure why it took over 6 weeks but it did so now we can move forward. Yeah!! I want to move forward on my next set of money reducing goals of getting Citimortgage to refi their 2nd. Then We’re going to refi the Santa Fe once it’s under $20,000.  we’re doing this because B’s coop territory is now going to include Southern Ca and he going to need a car like a Prius with incredible gas mileage. I’m planning on taking over the Santa Fe and I guess we will sell the old van.

Today, My daughter and I are going into town to get a few things at Target and then Verizon to see about switching plans. B’s company has dropped Verizon so hs employee discount is going away and that means a higher bill. So we need to switch something.

Tonight is Friday night pizza!
