I’m working the afternoon shift, which usually doesn’t work for me as I like to lay down @ 3pm. But, it’s ok to mix it up once in a while. We’re having a BBQ tonight. I think turkey burgers. I might or might not make a side. A salad?
our weather is suppose to be warm this week and it should be really nice.
Still working on May ‘s budget, and I’m going to set up a strict budget for my son who thinks money grows in trees. He does work at Kmart and is full time in school, but he still just piddle so away money on lots of little things. So this month I’m going to help him really plan a budget for eating out, fun $ ,gas, his rent to us and whatever else I can think of.
Our budget is tight as we have had all those extra bills ,but I think my main goal is to get our zero balance in the checking up. It’s a cushion we need. I may go back and use my YNAB , but usually I’m a paper and pencil budgeter. (Is that a word?).
So off for the day, hope it’s a good one too!
It’s Monday, I have my monthly dr’s appt. my blood work should be there, but maybe not the m protein results. B is driving me , then home and then leaving for a sales meeting all week. Fortunately, the weather is suppose to glorious , so I won’t need to start fires, and the house will be warm. We’re expecting temperatures in the 80’s.
I ll update later with results.
good news! My m protein went down a tad. .33. Yeah! They’ll be champagne this week!
we saw Dr l in a different place. It was closer, but I didn’t like it as much. But, it does save driving into downtown Sacramento !
so, I’m happy and will keep putting up with diarrhea and dex. He did say I could try lowering the dex to 4 pills, which would be 16 mg a week. I might try it, but I get pretty stuck on if it’s not broken don’t fix it.
I walked in the rain this morning. Nobody but me and geese( the Canadian geese have 8 babies). No regulars showed up.
I’m off to the library this morning hopefully with a better attitude. Maybe it’s just on my week off from rev/ dex, I get cranky. I think it’s the drugs getting out of my system, but tonight it’s back to putting back in. I see my doctor on Monday and hope my blood work is there.
I just finished a really great book, for those who read. It’s called “Sarah’s Key”. It’s about the French police rounding up the French Jews on July 16 1942. It weaves in present time and then back to that time. Oh, my, it is one of the best books I’ve read. I as many people had no idea about Vel d ‘Hiv ( I have go back and check the spelling. The message is NEVER FORGET!
I didn’t really finish everything so, I have a loaf of no knead bread rising. I made it yesterday. It’s the jim lahey recipe which makes a beautiful boule type loaf.
i can’t decide to go to Costco today. I need stuff but don’t feel like going that far. I need some stuff but our local store is just down our hill. I used to walk there all the time. Going down was fine but our hill is like a 45 degree angle so coming up was and is a killer.
all our big expenses are done, and so now it’ll be save, save save. The only things coming up are my daughters birthday ( I already got her a rain jacket ,) and I’ll get her one more thing or a gift card to old navy.
i had a not so nice time at the library the other day and here’s why. Our library is switching over to a new computer system so IT was there when I opened, but nothing had been completed so it was kinda a mess cuz I couldn’t do anything and they just sort of went really slow and not sure exactly what they were doing. Ok but here’s the rub. I work as extra help. I get paid less than 10 an hour, but I do all the work of a permenant employee but with out any benefits. This library really doesn’t treat it’s pages very well. Many come and go. That’s ok overall, it’s just they don’t really give us the respect we deserve. Especially when we run the small branches. Yes, there is a branch manager but she’s not always there . In another story, I should have been this branch manager but because a long time ago they wanted to cater to someone who shall not be named they combined 2 small branches to make it a full time job. It was in my opinion a big mistake. But being that’s what it is and I cannot work full time I got thrown out of the mix, and now, well I’m just too old to be hired in any capacity. So, back to the the story. So ,,I get a ‘ generic log in’ that’s for pages. I’m told I cannot use the other computer as that’s for the ‘ permenant staff, and I need to ‘ log off ‘ when I go well, BS to that. Then after our branch manager gets there, he runs over and whispers( yet I hear) this is your password, no one can see or use it ( meaning me). Believe me you could see steam coming out of my head. I grabbed my stuff, as my shift was almost over, walked out without even saying good bye. I was so pi#*#* ed. Well, I can get worked up over things, but still it was likes secret society because your not a permanent employee .
So, so, I’m back to feeling, ok this is my little job that I love. I’d like to keep working at least another year if my health allows, but I certainly won’t do anything extra at all.
Well, we are at day 330. It’s exciting as we go thru these last days. Today I added I extra round. I’m still not trying to prove I can go 5 miles or 3 miles, just walk. One foot in front of the other.
in other news on the home front, we bought the Santa Fe to pull the tent trailer and for B to have a work car that’s AWD. It worked out pretty good although the payment will be higher. Hopefully his car reimbursement will cover it( it should). This maybe the last car we get with his company but we will have to see how it is in 3 years. But it is very nice. We still need the trailer hitch and roof rack put on. We added that to the loan.
For real!!!! We were walking early since there was going to a sunrise service in our park and I wanted to be done before all the Christians showed up. So we pull in and across the parking lot run 2 bunnies. It was really cute. The Easter bunny!
Breakfast is hash browns, eggs, bacon, veggie bacon, strawberries and coffee or tea.
We’ve made the deviled eggs, the ham is ready to slice ( I actually splurged on a honey baked ham) , and the southern fried tofu(breaded tofu) is ready to fry. There’s also some potato salad. So we’re set. We are eating early as my son needs to go to work.
Im going to read and and maybe garden some.
I’m off dex and rev so it’s just great to feel good.
Just joking! Sometimes it feels like all I do is take pills. But, starting today I’m off rev for 2 weeks, and dex. Mostly due to I don’t see the doctor till the end of the month. Normally I’d have a week off. But then there’s acyclovir for preventing shingles, Ativan to sleep, vitamins, aspirin, and my BP med, Lisiniprol . My blood pressure has been great since starting this. But then my bottom number started getting a little low. So, I asked my PCD,to drop the HCTZ I was on. So I’ll see if there’s a change in a week and if it goes back up.
Today I’m at the library, then I’m going to come home pick some lettuce for a salad, plant some things, and then make a pesto pizza for dinner. I’m still trying to make the worlds best pizza but alas it’s not happening. But I got the crust right by using the no knead dough. It makes the crust flavorful but I just can’t get the right bottom ( browned ) and top melty. I want to buy that pizza maker called La pizzeria.
it heats up to 600-700 degrees , but then it’s just another kitchen tool I don’t have room for. But if it works it would be so worth it. Anyone have one? Or… I do have a cheap pizza stone but it still doesn’t seem to do the trick.
It’s a nice day. Kinda a slow day. I have a teeth cleaning this afternoon, and I need to pop into target for some Easter candy for the library.
I’m planning on making a pizza for dinner. Maybe grill a little chicken as it needs to be used. Then I could make chicken salad for tomorrow night. I’m on a quest to make great pizza. Tonight I’m using the dough that is in the fridge for 3 days. I looked into buying a little pizzeria machine that heats up to 650-700 but just don’t really want to spend the money. But, I’ll think about it. I don’t usually buy specific tools like that but the reviews are really good.
I’m listening to the audio of “Game of Thrones”, and it is excellant. I don’t know if I can finish in 2 weeks, but I’ll put it back on hold if I need to.
We’re going to check out the Santa Fe this week end and see what the possibilities are. It’ll make pulling the tent trailer less stressful and we can go on some longer trips.
Im going to be off dex and rev for 2 weeks so that’s unusual , but nice. I’m not too worried about it affecting my blood work but I don’t see my dr till the end of the month.
I did most of my fly lady stuff yesterday, just a few things today, like vacuum and steam mop. It’s the bathroom zone , so because ours is so small and minimalist, there’s not much to do. It takes 15 minutes too to deep clean. Also our bedroom is sparse do 5 minutes tops to straighten, make bed etc.
Today, it’s just those few things and I’m going to plant some marigolds. There’s one load of laundry. I might go to target for a few food items I like to get there, but I may not. B still needs to get out the patio umbrellas and we need to see what kind of shape they’re in.
We had BBQ turkey burgers and griller for the vegie. It was good. Tonight I’m making a cheese soufflé as I need to use up some gruyere and I have lots of eggs.
im also getting my LLS insurance stuff ready to go out. They are an amazing organization and any of you out there who are runners and want to help raise money for the leukemia lymphoma society , it’s called Team in training. Thank you all who do it as my grant comes from these dedicated people.
Well, off for the day, another beautiful day in Northern California .
We got back from the coast yesterday. It was a super trip. We had an ocean view camp spot. The best one! The campground was quiet, no little kids running around. Had some good food and relaxed. We walked every morning , but my husband and daughter did lots of walking and hiking. I’ll post the pictures later.
well, off to the library this morning. It is beautiful weather here!
