So I saw my oncologist this morning and all is right in my world. He always listens and has been a knowledgeable medical oncologist/hematologist. Since I had already gotten my labs back and they were all great, it was just a relaxed visit to check in and set up the next followup. I am so very grateful to be enjoying and living every day to the fullest.
Today, I’m just doing some puttering chores. I need to load up some thrift store things to take tomorrow. I have 1x load of laundry and just tidy and putter around. I may go out the garden and pick tomatoes as we are still getting plenty.
Here’s a picture of the peach pie I made the other day.
OMG, it was divine. But I think it was because the peaches were so divine. But I made the crust using Julia Child’s recipe minus the shortening. I just did all butter.
We’re at the end of the year so, it’s 6 months from June 1 when the new walking year started. That’s 3 1/2 years of walking every single day with intention. These past few days it has been 27 degrees and that is pretty darn cold to walk in at 6:30 am. I finished the year (almost the end of the year) at 900 miles. I was trying to get 1000 miles in that the lady from Britain challenged. But I was still 100 miles short. Next year!!
I saw my oncologist today, and he was sick with a cold so we stayed apart. And no physical exam which I don’t need anyway, but it was good to touch base. He said everything looked good and he’d order labs for 8 weeks. That’s a little long for my comfort range but we’ll see. Actually, after I read the clinical summary, he put them at 6 weeks. I think he wasn’t really thinking clearly. That’s okay. Then I’d see him again in February. I think if my labs look good I’ll cancel that and ask for labs again 6 weeks after that. I think that’s what he wanted but got mixed up especially since his computer wouldn’t boot up and his head was stuffy.
Then we hit Trader Joes for salad stuff, got the paint for the front room, and then stopped at Costco to return something.
All in all a good day.
It’s taco Tuesday.
Well, we are in for a pretty nasty storm Wednesday night and on into Thursday. Wind, lots of rain, flooding Predicted and very high winds. So, in that light I cancelled my doctor visit and zometa on Thursday. It’s just too much to drive an hour in that kind of weather. My numbers are stable and zometa can wait a few weeks. I’ll get my blood work and wait to hear from him. I asked him to let me know when to start my next cycle. Plus, I’ve felt awful all day and I’ve definitely got a sore throat. If it’s not better tomorrow I’ll call my co worker. I just don’t get paid enough to suffer thru at work. She’ll have to find someone or come over herself. I’ll wait till the morning to decide.
Other than that not much new…
So, a rainy drive to Sacramento and lots of traffic. Dr l was nice, blood work good. Didn’t get my m protein test back but should be soon. Got revlimid ordered and I should get it tomorrow . So a good visit overall.next month I’ll get zometa .
we went then to trader joes and bought some groceries and then to lunch at a super Italian restaurant with the best fire cooked pizza. Yummmmm
oh so the PITA health coverage is requiring a blood test for tobacco use and a wellness dr checkup and fasting blood test for HDL etc.
As if I don’t get pocked enough , and checked once a month. Well not cholesteral but everything else. What a pain.
A big shout out thank you to the LLS for granting me another grant this year to help pay for insurance and co pays!
