Simple Sunday

A cloudy walk this morning but it was warm. It was 51 degrees. It’s quite nice really.

I’ve been to the Auburn gym and now I’m home. I’ve swished the bathroom and now plan to do some other regular Sunday things.

Sunday is our sheet-washing day. We only have one set of linen sheets so we wash, dry, and put them back on the bed. B was just saying though the sheets seem to wearing thin. He does the laundry so he would know.

I fed my sourdough so I might make a dough later after it does its thing.

I made some chicken salad for sandwiches from the chicken I roasted the other day. I’m not sure what I’m doing for dinner tonight. I know a salad is on the menu but I need to check what I have to use up. Last night we (my daughter and I) had the last turkey burgers and B had the last Boca burger.

We’re considering taking the trailer to Napa as we only have a brief window of time before he’s in for the major surgery. I’m mixed on this as it’s money and effort. I guess we’ll give it a few days to filter through.

This little Cherry( the only girl who gets picked on by her brothers and Bean.

This is Guster(Gus) and Smudge. I know… 🙂 these are the names they got when they came out of the barn. 🙂 They were the ‘barn kitties’.

Little Tux is adapting here well. But we need to get the neuter going. He’s a very sweet cat. As soon as I can I’ll get a picture.

Well, I’m going to move the loveseat couch on the opposite wall and see if I like it better. I don’t want to put it in the sunroom yet because Tux is sleeping out there and he might be squirting? 😦 I hope not.

Midweek…

We had another video visit with the doctor and it was somewhat productive. She requested that a team of oncologists, and radiologists review B’s scans, biopsy, etc. There were lots of ideas floating around but again nothing too conclusive except that it may be peritoneal primary cancer which is exceedingly rare. One pathologist was going to do a few more tests on the biopsy tissue for something. We should know something about that today. If there’s anything conclusive the Friday Biopsy would be cancelled or postponed. The one positive thing was she was going to make the referral to a medical oncologist for discussion of treatment. That’s good news as the tumors aren’t going away on their own. We haven’t heard anything as of today though.

I’m off to the pool this morning. I figured I better get a swim in since I’ll be taking Dex tomorrow and the next 3 days.

Other than that, no canning or bread-making for a bit. I’m caught up and I don’t need bread today. So when I get home the only thing I need to do is vacuum and I might have someone else do that while I’m gone. Later I’m meeting my library friends for a coffee at our cafe. I won’t stay too long as it’s busy down there and usually loud. Both of which I’m sensitive to. Still, it’s nice to get together for a coffee or probably iced tea by then.

We actually sat outside for dinner last night. The first in months. The weather is finally cool enough and quite nice actually. It’s been a tough summer.

I made a new recipe from Budget Bytes of Honey Garlic Chicken. I liked it because yo cut the chicken up in smallish pieces. Then the sauce was a honey sesame with some garlic. It was very good. Then I tried something new which was I did the same recipe but with frozen tofu chunks I had and Whozze! We all liked that better than the chicken. ( well, the chicken eaters anyway).

Our neighbor’s cat is missing and presumably eaten by a coyote. I hate coyotes for doing that. The cat was a very pretty all gray cat. We called him Little Smokey. We have lost a number of cats to coyotes here. It’s just part of this landscape. When we moved here we had no idea of this because in Foresthill we had 13 cats at one time and NEVER lost one cat to coyotes. Now all the cats we raise are indoors unless monitored outside except for Chester ( he’s the one who showed up one day and Mama Cat who is the mama to the 4 we have inside). They do go out unsupervised but there’s not much we can do about that. They are used to being out. But it’s still sad when a cat goes missing and with coyotes, there’s never any trace. Sad:(

Thankful Thursday

I’m thankful I had the money to order the right Dyson vacuum part the other day since all 4 knock-off filters were defective and actually went flying off the top of my V 8 vacuum. The Dyson filter was $30 and only one as opposed to the knockoffs that were 4 in the package. Oh well, I can use Bender( the robotic vacuum) until it shows up.

I’m very thankful that our daughter is such a help around the yard and does most of the gardening. She’s a librarian and the author of many supernatural books involving gay werewolves and vampires. She’s always been one to make up stories even as a child. Now she’s paid, and pretty handsomely too, to write stories.

I’m grateful that our barn kitties are doing well in the house. They do get to go out to their yard which is fenced and protected from predators. My daughter totally spoils them and even bought a catio for them which attaches to her bedroom window. I also am grateful that Chester found his way here from( we think) the hoarder neighbor’s house. He’s a funny cat and has a big personality.

I’m thankful spring is here and everything is turning green and growing!! We would still like to drive up to Tahoe and see the snow pack but the timing just hasn’t been there. I’m guessing that snow will be around for a while. What a winter!!

Oh, let’s not forget, I am so grateful tRump is indicted and that DA Bragg is a brave man.

Simple Sunday

Fall is definitely here and with it colder weather and lots of pretty colored leaves. In the park, the trees are red, orange, yellow, and gold colors. Up here on our hill, we mostly have shades of yellow and gold. We had a lovely walk with no one there again. Sunday is my favorite day to walk. We’re consistent in walking 45 minutes. Then poof! I’m done. It’s the same with swimming. 40 minutes give or take and then that’s it.

I ordered 2 more cases of Ball jars and lids. They didn’t have the pint ones so I’ll check around for them. I also got a table runner in a tartan red plaid for Christmas and a candle(balsam). Speaking of Christmas, I’m pretty sure we’re not going to go up to Tahoe to cut a tree. The permits are in South Lake and that would mean going twice up there, once to buy the permit and then second, going to get the tree. There are no online purchases this year. Again, I don’t think we’ll do much in the way of gifts. Both my children buy whatever they need/want anyway. I’ll probably do a few gift cards though.

Here’s the applesauce from the other day.

I only got 4-pint jars but it is very tasty. I’ll see if my son can pick up a few more apples from his friend’s trees.

This week is another quiet one with no appts. I will go to the gym at least once and then swim at least twice. I’m doing a small Winco trip on one of the swim days as it is just across the street from the pool. We’ll probably do Costco in two weeks. As always, it’s the coffee we’ll need.

So we have a ‘new’ very friendly cat that has shown up!!!

Meet Chester!

He looks just like Gus! But his face is squarer ( is that a word?)more square. He’s very friendly and wants attention. We’re not sure where he came from but he seems to like it here.

This is Gus the tiger boy!!! He is bigger than the new cat that we’ve named Chester!!

I’m glad the week is over. I had those few days I didn’t feel well and it was just kind of an off week. Flylady zone is the living room. I did the windows and dusted. I put out a few Halloween decorations( my vintage ones) and added some mini pumpkins.

We finished watching “Severance”. If you like futuristic, dystopian stuff, then this is for you. Very intense and you’re not really sure what is going on. I have some Ann Cleeves on hold at the library I’ll pick up this week. ( she writes the Vera series).
