Monday morning!

I did get a car rental, it’s a little Kia. It was a pain and hertz where I live was not very customer friendly. It took 2 hours and it was almost a no go, as even though AAA arranged the rental the day before, there wasn’t a car ready for me. So at the last minute someone came in and I got this Kia.

Library has been very slow. I told my co worker you can’t run a business like this. Friday our circs were16. Yes, that’s 16 checkouts. Wow. I think that’s a record. So, this week I’m there alone, but I don’t work Thursday. She’s off for the week, it’s about time. Her job is pretty easy but it is time consuming.

So, Sunday was dex day. Got the whole kitchen zone done. Today, just some vacuuming and odds and ends. Our apples are ready so I may start some applesauce.

Budget is blown again with our vet bill for Blackie. But that’s what EF money is for. Not that there’s any left now:(

Well, not much else new. We did take a load to good will yesterday. And tomorrow I have a huge food bank load to take to the one across the street from the library. Actually I may go today.

we also moved a chair our of the front room into S’s studio, now that the GF is t out there. Next, is getting rid of an old couch out in the barn. We will put it down at the corner for free. Usually stuff goes there.

Update on the Subaru

It went well yesterday. Saw the Allstate guy, got it squared away, and the Subaru is in the shop already. It’ll be 2 weeks, so I’m trying to arrange a rental, as this car juggling is a bit much. But it went very smoothly, and I’m really impressed with Allstate and how they handled it .

My daughters driving me to Costco to shop in her VW. And then I hope we can get the rental squared away.

It was payday and both are checks are short. Mine because I only worked a few hours, B’s not sure, but it’s always something.

Ode to Blackie!

We lost our sweet black bean yesterday. He was a ferral cat that adopted us many years ago. It took him almost a year to come close, and at the end he slept in my lap. He was bleeding from the mouth yesterday,so my daughter rushed him down to our vet. He had a tumor rupture so there was nothing we could do. I don’t like this vet office as everything is $$$$. As it was it ended up $325, just to do what was necessary. It seems a little steep to me and we still had to euthanize him. S dug a nice place for him and buried him with a can of food, catnip and a binkie.   image

Slow library day

It was so slow today, I think in 4 hours 6 people came in. That’s pretty slow. My daughter dropped me off and picked me up as Z had my van. So tomorrow we will see the the appraiser. I can’t really say what they’ll do. We shall just have to wait and see.

Z came home early enough, but still not right after school. He took the GF home and stayed. I told him he could  use my car for work and school, period.! I tried to talk about her negative influence on him, but didn’t get too far.

So, from memories page #3

the end of our first semester, we did not go back to NY, but had our own Christmas and New Years. The following spring, were the Kent state riots and deaths. We were on campus when our riots at U of A began.

we walked on campus and there were riot police everywhere. We were tear gassed and quickly retreated. In the meanwhile we found a dog wandering around and brought it home. A beautiful dog. Later in that spring, ( muffin , as we named him, was hit by a car and instantly killed. )

I guess it was a strange year , with riots, the Vietnam protests, and life. But we were madly in love and still believed in all that was good. We went to a number of concerts, including, John Denver , and Riche Havens, and someone I can’t remember. We took lots of motorcycle rides out into the desert and had lots of sex.

Yes, remember , we were pretty young, and it was drugs, sex and rock and roll.

At the end of the school year, we decided to hitch hike or ride share with someone back to NY, so we could pick up  B’s 1947 Plymouth , which was our main car for many years. Wow, all that sounds pretty weird, but that’s what we did.

September budget

I’m going to join in on a no/’low spend month with a number of other bloggers. It does help to track the no spend days. So, today is day 1.

our budget is about the same, except in October our auto insurance will be due and with Z’s accident it’s going up 400. Pretty steep, but I told him he’s got to pay it or don’t drive. Then it’s our birthdays, but usually we’ve gotten what we want before hand. So, I just need to factor in that money out of our line item savings.

i checked out getting an account at 360 capital one, where you can have as many accounts for different things as you want, but it just seems like too much work. So I’m going to stick to doing line item budgets for BD, anniv, clothing, house repairs etc. I would like to see these separated but our credit union doesn’t do more than Santa, savings, and one other savings. So, I’ll just keep it this way for now. I’m still trying to get the YNAB thing of having one month ahead in checking but were pretty far from that.

So, I’m going to try and keep food costs down, that’s always a challenge for me especially if I go to Costco which I’ll be doing this week. It’s not a lot of stuff but each one is almost $20, like coffee, TP, a meat pack, etc, so it goes pretty quick.

today, I’ve accomplished somethings, in spite of hardly sleeping with it being a dex night. Oh, I’ll take a nap later. Or take  an Ativan again tonight.

Z’s been careful driving my car and Wednesday we will go to insurance appraiser, so by the end of the week it should be in shop.
