Simple Sunday

A cloudy walk this morning but it was warm. It was 51 degrees. It’s quite nice really.

I’ve been to the Auburn gym and now I’m home. I’ve swished the bathroom and now plan to do some other regular Sunday things.

Sunday is our sheet-washing day. We only have one set of linen sheets so we wash, dry, and put them back on the bed. B was just saying though the sheets seem to wearing thin. He does the laundry so he would know.

I fed my sourdough so I might make a dough later after it does its thing.

I made some chicken salad for sandwiches from the chicken I roasted the other day. I’m not sure what I’m doing for dinner tonight. I know a salad is on the menu but I need to check what I have to use up. Last night we (my daughter and I) had the last turkey burgers and B had the last Boca burger.

We’re considering taking the trailer to Napa as we only have a brief window of time before he’s in for the major surgery. I’m mixed on this as it’s money and effort. I guess we’ll give it a few days to filter through.

This little Cherry( the only girl who gets picked on by her brothers and Bean.

This is Guster(Gus) and Smudge. I know… πŸ™‚ these are the names they got when they came out of the barn. πŸ™‚ They were the ‘barn kitties’.

Little Tux is adapting here well. But we need to get the neuter going. He’s a very sweet cat. As soon as I can I’ll get a picture.

Well, I’m going to move the loveseat couch on the opposite wall and see if I like it better. I don’t want to put it in the sunroom yet because Tux is sleeping out there and he might be squirting? 😦 I hope not.

Five on Friday…Frugal Friday..

Well, definitely not frugal after the Ikea trip and ordering my new glasses yesterday.

The eye doctor is a really nice man and told me my macular pucker looks stable. He also said because of the diagnosis(?) not sure of its term, under Medicare it’ll be covered. So that was a relief.Β  The glasses I have now are called Lindberg, made in Denmark and I love them. They are expensive but since these lasted me 5 years and really I could have just kept them as my prescription hasn’t really changed. But I felt before jumping off the boat into Medicare, I better do all this stuff I can now.

Speaking of which, I was going to go into their office this morning but I’ve just had it with this week so I’ll wait till next. When I called to make the appointment, the person said: “oh, you can’t make appts for that, you just have to go in and take a number”. Great. More waiting. So that’ll be next week.

So, today is a gym day. And then to the store for a few items, cat food, half and half, and some deli stuff.

I talked with the UHC transplant person and unfortunately, the brothers travel and lodging is not covered so that was kinda a bummer and the billing is probably when he comes out of the hospital, so we know that’s going to be June. So we will have the full deductible which ( based on what they said before)is $6,000. So we’ll just ask for payments to be made or use as much as the GFM that will be left after paying for the brother’s flights and lodging.Β  I’m seriously, not going to worry about it.Β  I’m sure there will be enough stress with this whole thing to go around.

Dinner is an order out pizza. Round Table gourmet veggie, I think.

All in all, it’s been a good week. Next week is insanely busy with appts. Another biopsy, pulmonary stress test, and who know what else. But one foot in front of the other and JUST KEEP WALKING!!!

Rainy Wednesday

The storm door is open and the rain /snow is here. We had some rain yesterday but more is slated for today and the next week almost. My daughter is going to stay in Truckee for a night or two due to the snow. It’s just not worth her driving for 3 hours just to turn around the next morning and so the same. Β The snow starts tonight and will continue so she can just stay at a hotel.

The BMB went very well and I have to say I am completely impressed with Sutter’s services. The procedure went very fast and we even stopped for soup at our local cafe and were home by 12:30. Now we just have to wait for the bad news. Yes, I know that’s pessimistic but I don’t think with all the low counts that’s it’s going to be positive. But we will move forward. We haven’t heard from the specialists yet so if not by Friday, I’ll have B call.

Today is a gym day since yesterday was busy with the doctor appt.

I have some butternut squash baking and I’m going to make a puree for soup. I’m planning to freeze it and then make soup this weekend.

Simple Sunday

It’s a beautiful sunny day with the temperature in the mid 60’s.Β Really lovely. But snow and rain are coming back in from Tuesday tillΒ forever it seems. Oh well. Β We need the rain, I guess.

Today was a gym day. And being Daylight savings, it was kinda empty. Some guy was waiting for the yoga class that (he didn’t know) had started an hour earlier. Β I walked at 6:55 to 7:30am. No one was there, which was nice. And tomorrow I’ll leave 5 minutes earlier. Β I’ll keep backing it up 5 minutes a day till I get back to 6:30. Β But I’d like it to be at least first light.

Then I went to Target to get a spring smelling candle and quite a few dollars later left.

Target is always a magnet for me. I don’t buy stuff I don’t need per se, it’s just I see stuff I was needing to get and then throw it the cart. For instance, I needed some decaf Peets coffee to make in my thrift store find Moka pot. Then I needed some hash browns for a menu item. Then cat food. So you see how it adds up. So, generally, it’s better for me to stay out of stores, which I do mostly. I don’t shop department stores or the like.

Yesterday I was reading the blog ‘reading my tea leaves’, and Erin was mentioning in her tiny bathroom how she doesn’t have any clutter in that room, as the room is too small. And visually it makes it crowded. Β I thought a lot about that. And I completely understand as our one bathroom is 6 x6. Β I try and keep shampoos and body wash in a white plastic container that you don’t see. But there’s still some stuff that is out like our towels are just folded on a small dresser. So, I guess there’s always room for improvement.

Dinner is a mushroom gruyereΒ frittata and aΒ green salad.
