It’s our wedding anniversary. Wow, we’re we young!!!
The dress was my great grandmothers from Poland. It wasn’t a wedding dress but an afternoon tea dress, whatever that was back in those days. But the lace was all handmade. We just got a simple bouquet of blue and white flowers and I just put some in my hair.
A very simple wedding and the reception was a potluck of sorts. It was supposed to be outside at B’s house but it was drizzling and so it was moved inside.
A Quaker wedding is no officiated by anyone as in Quaker meetings there is no ‘minister’ as such. About 30 minutes into the silent meeting, you stand and say your vows. Then others may speak if they are inclined.
This scroll is the official document of the wedding and all sign. We did get a license’ from the town clerk but actually, I can’t quite remember when we did that.
The meeting house is a historical building and we had to petition to use it for the wedding. Quite lovely.
It has been a journey and a gift to have traveled with someone from the time we really were just kids, to now older:)….old?? heck not yet…:)
Today we are going to Tahoe to tour the Thunderbird lodge which is on my bucket list to do. The Thunderbird was an estate by some millionaire right on the lake. . The only way to see it is to take the tour. I’ll write more about soon.
Then I made reservations for lunch at a fancy place that also looks out at the lake. Should be a fun day!!
Love you B, now and forever!
Awww, Happy Anniversary! Wish for you many more years of happiness.
