Stranger things and homemade pasta!

So, I saw the foot doctor on Tuesday and it was odd( again)!! First, they kept me waiting 45 minutes and the only other patient was an elderly woman.  I do not like it when doctor offices make patients wait. Oh, I can see a few minutes or if there’s an emergency, but this seemed just poor timing on the office staff part.

Then I get in there, and he never looks at my foot or presses on the top( meta dorsal (sp??)bones where the fracture was). Then he’s looking at the exact same x-ray as the first one and says, well, it looks like it’s healing.  Whaaaatttt! It’s the same xray that last time you said it was a fracture thru the bone and not just a nondisplaced one.

For a second, I thought, did I miss something?? Did I get another xray and somehow forgot??? It was weird. Then he says do you want to follow up in 3 months? I said, no if it bothers me more I’ll let you know. NOT GOING TO happen. I’ll call someone else.

Anyway, it was all odd.

Then I’m beelining it home, turn on to our road and there are cars backed up all over the place. So in our driveway, a huge oak had fallen across the road and took out some power lines. So, at first, I thought I could just walk up the driveway but the patrolman said no the tree is across the whole driveway. I decided to walk over to the Holiday Market and get a sandwich since by now it was 1pm.  By the time I was done, PGE had cleared the line but the tree wasn’t their responsibility but the property owners. So, I had to park my car and walk up.

ODD, ODD, ODD!!!  WEll, the owners finally called someone and they cut up the tree enough to get a car by. So this giant oak was completely rotten at the base and filled with carpenter ants. The leaves were all still green but not the inside and down it came. Actually, it’s kinda scary to think if I was driving up right when it happened, I’d be squished.

So, today is my oncology appointment, and hopefully, there are no surprises. Well, I know my results so that’s all good.

Then we are going to Costco to pick up dog medications and some things. I’m hoping to be in and out quickly.

At a different Goodwill, I found another pasta maker and it was brand new in box. It’s Imperia. So this one did come with the clamp and I thought well I’ll try it and compare to the Atlas I got for $ 3.00.  The Atlas is older and has some rust spots where the handle goes in, not on the cutters but the other is new.

Then cooked.

Here’s the ricotta filling.IMG_1466.jpg

Then layering..

Then the final product half eaten.

It was absolutely heavenly. Making fresh pasta is so easy.

Now, I think the older Atlas worked a smidge better than the Imperia. But I can’t decide yet so I’m going to try again later this week. The clamp on the Imperia didn’t work well in the model but actually worked great in the Atlas. Go figure.  Also, I could use the Atlas on the stainless steel island but not the Imperia as the clamp didn’t quite fit. So I moved that to a different counter that was not as easy to use. So, I’m undecided. But when I went to Youtube, the Atlas was number one and the Imperia number 5. Still, the Imperia is brand new, the other older.  I’ll do another round soon.

OH, the zucchini chocolate bread was delicious and not sweet at all.
