Merry Christmas Eve

I went down to the pool yesterday only to find it closed. Apparently, when they had an open swim that included kids, some kid mistook the pool for a bathroom. So they have to chlorinate it to a very high level. That’s ok, it’s closed today as well. I’d rather they get it clear to be able to swim without any risk.

I came home straight away, although if I had extra gym clothes, I could have gone to the gym. But I was in my swimming suit.

I finished dusting most everything yesterday and also went down to Holiday to get a few last things.

We had some pretty intense wind overnight and rain, but right now things are calm till the next wave, which is this afternoon. Hopefully, it won’t be too bad. I do hate the wind.

Tomorrow, Christmas looks just as bad, so I told my son and brother not to come up if it’s treacherous. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I can cook dinner on the weekend if that’s the case.

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve.

Simple Sunday

It’s Christmas Eve day. We had a nice predawn walk. The sky was quite lovely.

I had a nice swim yesterday and by the time I was leaving it getting crazy busy?? Why?? Anyway, I got there right at 7am and had a lane to myself the whole time. That was nice. Traffic wasn’t too bad on I-80.

I’m not going to the gym this morning even though it’s probably empty but I just don’t feel like it.

Today I’m making the zucchini lasagna and I guess we’ll see how that comes out. Since S is trying a gluten-free diet, I’m trying to do alternative things. So far, it’s not too hard to swap stuff out. The rest of us will have the regular lasagna and the cheese manicotti.

I’ve done a little decluttering before the new year starts. I had a pair of Merrell slip-ons that I loved when I first got them but now every time I wear them my feet don’t like them. Then the only other shoes I have besides my Birkenstocks and Hokas are a pair of Noat shoes that are black slip-ons. I bought them back in 2016 for an event that needed something dressier than Birkies. I’ve only worn them a few times and when I put them on they throw my back off so off they went to Goodwill. There were a few other random things as well. I certainly get ‘clutter blindness’ and just don’t see things that are sometimes just sitting there in plain sight. 😦

Christmas Eve dinner traditionally for us is fondue. So I’m heading down to the Holiday to pick the veggies for that, a baguette, and some other condiment things for a salad tomorrow.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!!

I may post tomorrow about ending the year but I’ll see how I feel then.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

I hope everyone has a lovely and special Christmas.

We are all ready for Christmas and tonight is Christmas Eve and we will have our traditional cheese fondue with baguette, veggies, and maybe some ham for the meat eaters.

I made the sauce for the manicotti yesterday so all I need to do is assemble the dish and pop in the oven tomorrow.

Today should be low key. I will do a little Flylady zone cleaning and a quick vacuum.

The other day after infusion, we went to the nursery and bought a live tree.  For some reason, I just had this urge to buy a real tree and I knew I didn’t want to get a cut one. So off we went and found a IMG_0576.jpeglovely blue spruce that we will plant after Christmas. They are a slow grower so we shouldn’t have to worry about it getting too big. I really wanted a tree with a strong fragrance like a balsam or Frasier but none to be found in this part of the world.

Next year we will get that Christmas tree permit early like we did last year as they sell out within a week. $10 for a tree is unheard of.

I might go to the gym, haven’t decided yet. The day feels slow and open to possibilities.
