I tried really hard to fall in love with this kitchen item. I’ve made the rice and it’s okay. I think I like the rice maker better. I did make chili and it was pretty good overall but so is the slow cooker.
This is not the model I have. This is the fancy one!
I also made some chicken recipes that were good but not stellar. Maybe I like cooking too much and the IP doesn’t allow for tasting as you cook. It’s a one-shot deal.
I gave my rice cooker away to use the IP plus it was getting kinda old. Rice is good in the IP but I think the rice maker is better.
One thing for sure no one likes the beans in the IP. I’ve been making pintos, black beans, and whatever other beans for years in the crockpot. They come out creamy and in a delicious broth. I also have never presoaked them. In the IP they just don’t taste the same and I can honestly say I didn’t like them much.
So I think I’m going to put it in my closet pantry for a bit and see if in 3 months or so I want to use it or not.
I think it’s great to try new things and I’m glad I’ve tried the IP but I think it’s also okay not to have to like it because everyone does.
So after 6 months, I have to say, I’m not impressed.

I sent mine back. The instructions were impossible to understand. I’m with you. I love my rice cooker. Makes great oatmeal too. And my crock pot is a godsend. I wonder how many other people there are like us who do not like the Insta Pot?
Well, I have wondered whether to get an IP. My daughter has one and uses it occasionally. I think primarily to cook meat. But I love my crock pot and use it at least weekly. I decided I really don’t need an IP.
Now, I have heard good things about air fryers. Don’t have one of those either. I hardly ever fry anything so I don’t think I need one. Just 1 more thing to take up space.
I really tried to like it and thought I would but I was willing to give it a chance. I wouldn’t bother if I were you now that I’ve tried it. As a matter of fact, I’m testing out my crockpot beans as I write this and we’re all going to do a taste test!!!
