Today is cross quarter, or Imbolc.
I can always feel the change somehow. Even though official spring is a ways a way, on Feb 1, you can feel the pulse of the earth quicken. I’m not sure if it’s because California has typically mild winters or if it’s a subtle shift in the air.
Regardless, Happy Imbolc!!

I've been married for nearly 15 years to a wonderful husband and I'm a mom to three great kids ages 12, 11 and 9. Oh, and I just happen to have cancer. Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of the blood that is currently incurable but IS considered highly treatable! My goal is to make people laugh, cry or feel a little less alone whether you are a mom, cancer patient or BOTH!

Well, I had no clue until I read your link. I have only heard of it as Candlemas. Even though it is cold and snowy here there is a change. I have noticed in the last few days that it is staying light out longer. We will have to wait awhile for spring here though. Hopefully, only 6 weeks.

Candlemas was the Christianization of Imbolc. Yes, our sunset is now 5:29pm.!!!!
At my house it was cold and cloudy today, but if the sun had been out it would have been obvious that the days are getting longer.
