Thankful Thursday

After reading about the severe cold in the south and midwest, our weather is something to be thankful for. I love living in California and am so grateful that we have a conscientious governor despite what the orange king has to say!

I’m grateful my LLS grant money came for my insurance. It makes a huge difference. Without it, I’m quite sure we would be struggling money-wise.

I’m immensely grateful that B is feeling so good for now. He’s doing all kinds of chores and is outside a lot of the day. Soon enough, with the Stanford surgery, it’ll be different but for now, it’s great. He still doesn’t have a date for the laparoscopy but hopefully soon.

I’m grateful for the other usual things, the Mike Shelito pool, the gym, and how well Roseville Parks takes care of things. It is much appreciated. If there was one other place I’d move to, besides Tahoe or Capitola, it would be Roseville. The former two would be beyond anything we could afford although if we had bought in the 70’s or 80’s it would be worth a fortune now. So much for hindsight.

I’m thankful for family and the support we all give each other. I do miss my sister, Heidi, even if we weren’t that close, she was still there and very supportive.

Well, that’s it from mi casa. Today is mostly a home day. I want to catch up on some house things and then pop into town to go to the bank.

Midweek Musings

A cloudy morning and cool. It’s a nice change!! I do see a few 90-degree days next week but that shouldn’t be too bad.

B and my daughter have taken almost all the window ACs out, and they are now stored in the barn. I’m hoping we get a break with our PGE bill while we’re in between ACs and heaters. If it’s not one thing it’s another.:(

Today is going to be a FUN day as my son is taking me to the movies. I rarely ever go to movies because of the sound and it’s too overwhelming. But, I also really want to see Deadpool so I’m going. Of course, we’re going to the first show so it shouldn’t be crowded. He took the day off to do this so that’s pretty sweet!

Tomorrow will be a home day, and on Friday I have my annual eye exam. My eyes will probably be dilated so I’ll just come home afterward. It takes a few hours for my eyes to get back to normal. I’m planning on looking at glasses too and maybe ordering some new ones. The frames I have now I’ve actually had the lenses replaced twice since the frames were so expensive. So it’s probably been 6 years since I’ve had new frames.

Other than that not much else going on.

Frugal Friday on Saturday

I drove home yesterday after my daughter drove up to Tahoe in the Santa Fe. Traffic flowed along and the usual construction stops were non-existent which was great. Unfortunately, the camp host wouldn’t just let her drive in without paying the $10 extra car fee, so for 15 minutes we had to pay 10 bucks. I was definitely pissed.

It was windy up there when I left and it was windy here at home too. But it was much cooler overall. I was really tired for some reason, so I took a nap, a shower and read some. The beach was overrun with people and I definitely will not go back next year at this time. It may have been somewhat circumstantial due to it being so hot but still.

The new shower head is very nice but it seemed to take an awful long time for the hot water to come out. I’m going to turn it on again this morning and time it. B and my son are planning on moving the electrical outlet and putting up the lights tomorrow. B ordered the grab bars so we will the helper to drill those in place. We don’t have a tile drill so that needs to be done. Then finally the flooring and paint. I think I’m going to look at paint on line this morning and see if I can find a soft gray color.

Since we were camping all week there was little spending except for basics. We treated ourselves to a lunch pizza and that was fun.

I need to peruse the freezer and fridge to gleam what menu I can do for the week and write a list. I know I need salad stuff and some veggies. I haven’t been very food focused lately since my norovirus hit. Plus the weather being so hot, it’s hard to cook. This week is much cooler so maybe I’ll be more creative.

My LLS ended so I have to wait now for funding for Myeloma to open. Last year it took 2 months so I’m expecting it to be at least that long. We would definitely be short of money monthly without my grant covering Medicare and UHC. It’s a huge gift that this organization provides for thousands of people like me. Back when I was first diagnosed(2005) LLS didn’t exist so all my co pays and extras put us in huge debt at the time. So for now, LLS is a real blessing.

I’m planning on doing some tidying this morning before B and S get home probably 2 ish. I also need to do the camp laundry.

On a Friday

It’s been a good week overall. The diverticulitis seems abated for the moment. I certainly hope that doesn’t happen any time soon.  I hate being on antibiotics which generally my body rejects. This time it seemed ok with just minor itchiness which may have been psychological. Anyway, I guess I ‘ll just have to do a wait and see and if I notice lower left discomfort call the PA again.

It was sunny yesterday which did improve everything. More rain and snow are on the way tonight and thru the weekend.

SO EXCITED!!!!

Just got back from my walk and there are 2 geese back at the park. I’m guessing these are 2 that were injured and Wildlife Rescue helped them.  So happy to see 2 of our friends!

Today I’m going to just stay home and putter around. I want to declutter some in the closet from hell and see how things can be organized more efficiently. The one closet in this house is for our clothes and it’s our overflow pantry.  Maybe I should rethink the pantry part and get the one from Ikea. I’ll have to consider this after Christmas.

Well, off to do something productive!
