This is a big storm!

Well, this is as big of a storm as what took our trees out in 2008, hence my wind phobia.
There are going to be 50-60 mph gusts… When trees start swaying sometimes, as I saw, they can’t stop and down they go. We are on top of a hill( bad for wind gusts), and we have very large ponderosa pines around our house.

So, we won’t be here. We will go to town and stay in a safe place that has no trees around. There’s still going to be wind and very heavy rain no matter where we are. I’m really glad I cancelled going to Sacramento to see my doctor. I’d probably have a nervous breakdown in the wind, and rain.

There’s still going to heavy rain into Thursday afternoon but the wind will be gone. Trees can still fall if the ground is saturated but that will be the chance we take.
Maybe 2015 will bring us a windfall and we can take down some trees 🙂

The calm before the storm!!!

Well, we are in for a pretty nasty storm Wednesday night and on into Thursday. Wind, lots of rain, flooding Predicted and very high winds. So, in that light I cancelled my doctor visit and zometa on Thursday. It’s just too much to drive an hour in that kind of weather. My numbers are stable and zometa can wait a few weeks. I’ll get my blood work and wait to hear from him. I asked him to let me know when to start my next cycle. Plus, I’ve felt awful all day and I’ve definitely got a sore throat. If it’s not better tomorrow I’ll call my co worker. I just don’t get paid enough to suffer thru at work. She’ll have to find someone or come over herself. I’ll wait till the morning to decide.

Other than that not much new…

Simplifying , decluttering, rain and more!.

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”

– William Morris

I’ve been back in the simplifying mode. I have a huge load to go to the little thrift store in town, but it’s been raining so much ,I haven’t been able to drop off. I read a blog about decluttering and I like his approach of everything needs a home. Pretty much the same as everything in its place and a place for everything. But , I like this little adaptation, that everything has a home or out it goes. I’m looking around and see a few more things to go.

With Christmas decorations up , it’s more visually cluttered, but I love our little bird tree, our snoopy tree, our big tree, and the ugly ornament tree. Yes, that’s a lot but we do enjoy them. My daughter and I did get rid of quite a few ornaments and quite a few of the hallmark boxes for ornaments that were not in the best shape. It takes up less space to wrap them in bubble wrap. I’m hoping to get everything in one plastic bin. That down from 4. It might end up I big bin and a small bin. I have 2 fake trees to give away too. So all in all lots of stuff going. My daughter does a great job purging, my son, not so much, his room is still a disaster zone. But I close the door, it is his space, so I respect that. Oh, I do go in and empty the burgeoning garbage pail.

RAIN,OMG, it was torrential. Our our got almost 4 inches of rain and there was flooding all over. Our driveway looked like a river. I get a little concerned with the ground being so saturated as that’s a way trees fall. But we need the rain in California ,so….

Saw the foot doctor too. It’s spurs on top of my foot. Surgery or ? She was little odd, not very revealing. She said I had a small mass under my ball of my foot from the bone trying to protect itself. She tried to drain it but when nothing happened, she said ,I guess it’s bursitis thing.( not sure if that’s what she said). Anyway I got a cortisone shot, and she wasn’t sure if that would help. She also said my feet don’t land right and I could benefit from orthopedic things to put in shoes, to the tune of $450. I said , let’s do it. She thought the reason the spurs happened is because of this. I’m going to try that, and give it 6 months. Then I’ll reconsider the bone shaving surgery ( yuck!).

I’m off to the library this morning.

maybe I’ll do a little more holiday decorating , if there’s any left to do.

Also, someone suggested to put the friends for sale books in alphabetical order. Good idea.

Not sure what’s on the dinner menu, but probably pasta with spinach as have a lot to use.

JKWP ( just keep walking project ) update and other random thoughts

Today’s is day 550! Wow, that’s everyday ,rain, shine, snow , ice, and not really feeling like it. But here we are. We will pass 600 sometime in January.
With time change were out around 6- 6:15 not bad. Just a little dark and then it gets light.
Today I’m going to take my tin into the bank and cash in the coins. This is a sealed pot challenge I joined in last year with a person who blogs from England. This cash will go to our Santa Barbara trip in January which we trying to make an annual thing.

Today I’ve made the Tartine recipe bread, it takes 2 days but is worth it.
I’ve also done home blessing with Flylady and the zone is the entry ways. We bought a new mat for the front door, and I washed the windows. And I’ll tidy a little more. Don’t want to over do it and flip out my L 1 again.

I ordered my daughters graphic card but it’s out of stock so I’ll have to see when it’s due in. Other than that still some gift cards for the ups guy and garbage guy. They work hard all year. I like to show our appreciation.

Other than that we had a nice thanksgiving and next year I’m doing it different. I’ll write my notes in my binder book and then next year review them. I do this with Christmas too. Last year I went over budget by $500 and this year exactly the same. It’s not really all gifts , it’s more the food, and all the other things I like to add in. New table cloth, etc, etc. some are gifts but as I said last year I need our Santa fund higher.
Also, this is pay the property tax week. So more $ out the window. I keep crunching retirement $ but no answers yet.
