We got back from the coast yesterday. It was a super trip. We had an ocean view camp spot. The best one! The campground was quiet, no little kids running around. Had some good food and relaxed. We walked every morning , but my husband and daughter did lots of walking and hiking. I’ll post the pictures later.
well, off to the library this morning. It is beautiful weather here!
I had gone to Target on line to find this great spring tablecloth. I just love the birds. I was going to make curtains out of this but the dimensions are just a little off.
So, I put it on the table with a new bunny. I rarely buy any thing like this anymore, but I am a sucker for Easter stuff.
My sinuses are really bothering me today, and I hope I’m not getting a cold. I feel kinda off. I’m taking extra vitamins and my Chinese herb combination which always seems to ward things off.
Next week we are off to the coast for our first camping trip. The weather looks great. Since there’s probably no wi fi , I won’t be blogging but I maybe able to find a signal.

Walked in the rain, nice except cold. And it’s a snow rain mix.
i just put in all of Aprils bills and now it’s on to transferring the money for the taxes. It’s a little hard to see that money go…….. To the government? Yikes. Oh well , next year we won’t be hit with this so, best to just bite the bullet. (What does that mean anyway!) April is a 3 paycheck month. Not sure that makes a lot of difference but perhaps that will give us a chance to build up our sinking funds.
In July we will have a bump in income as our health plan costs will go down. I’m planning on putting that over in savings. Then get back to putting my husbands pay increase back in too. So, maybe by July we will start getting back to really saving as all the big stuff will have been done.
We’re still trying to figure out about buying the Santa Fe . It’s my 15 year old van that pulls our tent trailer, and therein lies the problem. It’s great for me driving back and forth to the library(3 miles), but to go on any trips. It’s a little iffey. Next week is our first camping trip I scheduled to bodega bay. And we will use the van. So it’s 3 1/2 hours away. But I think we will be ok(I hope). We do have AAA, so if anything does go wrong. Also, we know my van needs some major engine work at $1500, but we just don’t want to do it now.
So back to the Santa Fe, my husbands company basically pays for the car payments but we still need to buy it. That means probably some down payment. He’s driving a 2012 Elantra which is a terrific car. So, what to do? I guess we will see how the trip to the coast goes and then decide.
It was really nice to get out with the tent trailer . Very relaxed. The camp site was ok, the table and fire pit were situated wrong( on the other side from where our door is), but quite nice. we walked and biked some and it was terrific. I’m a little sore as I haven’t biked in a while, but overall okay.
Today was my 50th day walking. Yeah, so I’m starting week 8. As I said my new motto is”JUST WALK”. So even if its .5 mile, it’s walking. I’m pretty pleased with this progress. Not much in the way of weight loss, but that ‘s not my primary goal.
its getting hot here, is going to be 100 or more. Ugh! I do not do well in the heat.
but, we are leaving for Tahoe tomorrow so, it’ll be nicer up there. Should be interesting ,as S and Z are staying home. It’s probably better as our cat tucker ,who has the feline diabetes ,needs food every 4 hours.
I’m decluttering tons of photos as I redo the books. It looks better and I’m hoping to get the photo albums down to 4. I also got rid of a cabinet I had tried painting but the cabinet wasn’t very functional. I was using it for shoes but it just wasn’t right. So that’s gone.
then I’m painting a bookshelf ,really just touching it up with white paint.Above is a picture after and before.
Then I told Z to clean up his room,as there was clothes all over. Well he didn’t so I put everything in a laundry basket, outside his door. Then pulled a stereo cabinet that held absolutely nothing out. I told my husband to trash it. Then I pulled out his totally destroyed leather chair. It is not going back in. But since I’m gone till Wednesday, I can’t go get him anything, it’ll just have to wait. He also needs a longer mattress as he is 6’3″. So I’m going to do a mini room makeover. Not paint, cuz that’s too much for me.. But new rug, and side table.
Honestly, I could’nt take it anymore. I told when school got out may 29 , clean your room, so what’s that 2 months…..
Well, I’m off to work and then home to get ready to camp!
I’m going to pack up the Franciscan ware dish set I and put in a cabinet I have. This set is desert rose. It was service for eight and I have given half away. Mostly they had chips and were mostly seconds. So I’m putting them in a box. If I don’t use them in 6 months for a special occasion, I will give to a friend.
I’m looking into buying shelving called Elfa. I want to seriously change our pantry from our front walk in porch to the kitchen. This shelving looks simple and seems easy to install. Not sure overall how expensive it is.
Today in the rain, I’m going out to the barn and go thru some kids artwork and get it down to 1 bin. I have all their special Waldorf toys in 1 bin. Baby blankets in another. So I am definitely getting it down to a nice small amount. Since I started this minimalism journey, I have really pared everything down. It feels so great.
Should hear from the nurse today or tomorrow on my M protein……….. Worry……..

Well, it’s off. We decided not to battle the rain. It’s unseasonal wet storm, due in tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday . Since that’s most of our camping days, we opted out. I’m okay with it, I really don’t want to be huddled in our tent trailer with pouring down rain. We lose our camping fees, but that’s the way it goes.

my husband changed all the phone wire, No!, so we’ve called for a technician ,which is going to cost $99 to START. WTF, it is driving me crazy. So here I am wifi ING from the library. 😦
I got my new bread baguette pan from Williams Sonoma yesterday , so I can’t wait to try it.
Our dear friend got married yesterday. It was lots of fun! His house is beautiful. I would love to have that much open space, our house always seems a little dumpy after visiting places like that. Oh well. We have a roof over our head at least.
so were off to Tahoe on Sunday, but it’s suppose to be cooler, maybe a little rain.
Our budget has been completely shot. No zero balance, we even took money from our sinking funds( do not touch), to get camping food. UGhH it has been a tough week!
