Simple Sunday

The heat wave continues but it is only 100 degrees or 99 depending on what time it is. We walked early , 5 am, and AH showed up which he hasn’t done before( he usually shows up at 5:30 am). We have been trying to avoid him and so going at 5am was working but I think he couldn’t stand the idea that we were there before him. Barclay did have to say this morning “move your dog over” as he walks in the middle of the path so his dog is on his left and right our way. h such a shame didn’t say anything but he did move the dog over when he went by the next time. It’s such a shame that this guy is like this as EVERYONE else is so nice and pleasant. Oh well, this too will pass. We’ve been walking there almost 10 years and lots of people have come and gone.

Right now I’m making some biscuits for dinner or lunch and the dough is chilling in the fridge. I’m also going to grate some zucchini and make fritters for dinner. I bought beets at the Farm stand too, so I might do borscht and serve cold with the biscuits.

This week we’re in the Living room and then the Entryway zones. I’ve already done the LR and just need to dust the ceiling fan. The entryways(on Thursday), I’ll tidy up the plants outside the door and sweep.

The kittens are growing and having fun running around. My office area is now the official catio. MamaKat is recuperating from being spayed and now she’s in there too. She’s actually done really well being inside except for the yowling at the kitties. We had to move all my houseplants from the sunroom after at least 3 clay pots were broken. Some were delegated to the covered shaded patio.

I’m working on a plan for when we can buy a used truck next year. I want to calculate our trade in with the Santa Fe and then how much are we willing to spend. A new truck is out of the picture because of the cost. So we’ll see.

Simple Sunday

Summer is officially here and the temperatures prove it. Almost 100 degrees. For those in the Southwest, that’s probably not too hot. I remember living in Tucson and we actually were out a lot. Maybe cause we were young and in love and it didn’t matter or perhaps it was just foolish youth.  Anyway, now I don’t do well in the heat and try and do all my chores early and I never go to town in the afternoon.

We went to the gym and then stopped t the market for Pico de Gallo for black beans tonight. Last night I made a cold Borscht Soup with beets from the farmers market. It was really delicious.

At the farmers market we got beets, radishes, apricots, nectarines, cucumbers, broccoli, and a few other things I can’t remember but it was good. The market was busy even at 8:10 am and it had just opened at 8am. This farmers market doesn’t ring a bell to open at 8 like the Santa Cruz one. That one you can’t buy anything till the bell is rung.

We’ve been watering a lot and I’m sure our water bill will reflect that. Oh, well, in the winter it’s PGE, in the summer it’s the Water company.

We’re in the Living room zone this week and I just finished that up. I’ve decided to empty one of the Heywoods and put some of my Fiesta ware in the bottom area. I’ll see if that works or not.

This week I’m going to South Lake Tahoe with B for work. It’s only an overnight but should be fun. I was thinking of going out for dinner at this place at Richardsons Resort, but I’ll need to check their online menu for prices.

Dinner is Black beans with sour cream and salsa and avocado.
